“Can a mother forget the baby at her breastand have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget,I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;your walls are ever before me”. Isaiah 49:15-16 (NIV)
On Friday’s, I have to spend some time cleaning out my car. This week is no exception. If anyone looks through my car, they will be able to see exactly how I spend my time. There is a platter on which I took a ham a luncheon at work yesterday. We honored our volunteers and celebrated the Christmas season. They all brought covered dishes, but I supplied the meat in gratitude for all their hard work this year. We could not run our sites without them. There are the loaf pans that I baked blueberry bread for a breakfast meeting. Geckofest, a community arts event where six foot geckos are displayed throughout our downtown, is in its peak of activity so the committee met for breakfast this morning. They have come to expect me to bring blueberry bread and think I am an extraordinary cook. I hate to tell them I buy the mix at our grocery store when it is buy one get one free. Alongside those dishes are two bags of books and papers from the Bible study I teach on Wednesday nights. It is for mothers and we are looking at Biblical guidelines for raising our children. I love the class because each woman who attends is extraordinary. They have overcome so many obstacles and still desire to follow God and lead their children to Him as well. In with the bags are some Christmas ornaments with the shape of a hand which I made for each woman. On them, I wrote their names in keeping with our class theme, Isaiah 49:15-16 listed above. In the back of my car are boxes, bags and tissue paper to wrap gifts this weekend. Bows to finish off my Christmas trees. Two jackets that found their way to the car, but not out of it. Receipts for glass supplies, bills to pay, a toy for a great niece purchased at a local museum, and a bottle of an all natural herbal remedy guaranteed to lower my blood pressure. There is a box from a new cell phone because youngest son lost his this week. There is an empty bowl from the soup I had for lunch, an empty water bottle, a hair brush, a program from a community meeting about downtown revitalization, an ATM statement, bank envelopes, (alas empty), two hair ties, keys for work, a to do list, some CDs, a shirt and pair of shoes youngest son left in there when he borrowed my car last, the wraps and ropes he uses to secure his canoe to my car top, and lots and lots of sand tracked in and out from our shell driveway and a trip to the beach. It has been a busy week with lots of good moments and some very disappointing ones. I’ve gotten through it all because I know that the creator of the universe holds me close not matter what happens and has my name written on the palm of His Hand.
I don't feel so bad about my car now, but I'm not nearly as busy as you are.
I love that truth that he has out name graven on the palm of His hand. Nothing can get to us!
Last night some of the ladies were talking that the last time the chorus sang at the museum, no one really listened. They were all in groups talking, sipping wine. I don't know if it would be worth your time to come or not…
Your car sounds like the twin of mine!!!! It's tough to keep it clean when we live in it 😉
I thought that's what a car was supposed to have in it LOL
Mine is the same and even though I clean it out regularly it only stays clean for about a day.
