Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. Psalm 51:1-2 (NIV)
Were you wondering where I have been lately? Except for one church friend who harasses me when I don’t post, I feel like I throw my thoughts into cyber land without knowing where they will land. I have said before I write for myself and that is true, but sometimes, I do question if anyone is reading. Early last week, I came down with some sort of a bug. It felt kind of like the flu, but, it was oddly timed. I felt fine when I woke up every morning, but by 4:00 my throat hurt so bad I didn’t feel like talking, my head pounded and I ached all over. I couldn’t miss work, but came straight home, cooked a hurried supper, showered and went to bed. Some nights I actually went to sleep before 8:30 and others, I watched television until 9 or 10. Now, you know I am sick when I confess to watching TV. Depending on whether I had control of the remote, I watched “Clean House”, bridal and home improvement shows or “Super Nanny.” I tell you what; I could tell those parents a thing or two. Who lets their six year old run off down the street screaming profanity at the neighbors? While I am enamored with David who rescues brides from church hall wedding receptions and silk flowers (did I mention our wedding reception was in a church hall and we used silk flower?) by spending $10,000 on dresses, parties and 12,000 red roses, I spent most of my time watching Clean House. Honestly, I cannot understand how other than a teenage boy whose mother needs Super Nanny to come and tell her to make her kid clean his own room, anyone can live in such filth. I am not talking about the spaghetti sauce spilled over last year and ran down between the cabinet and the stove where you can’t see it kind of filth. But, people actually living in what looks like a landfill with so many clothes and bags of garbage on the floor that they walk elevated up in the air at least three feet. Really, who needs that much stuff? And how can they stand not being able to find anything? One family actually found $5,000 in coins and bills stashed all around their house that they didn’t know that they had. I think I would know if I was missing $5,000 don’t you? Even at its worst, our house has never looked like those places on TV. Well, my son’s room did, but that is only because I didn’t have Super Nanny. I am feeling a little better now, so hope to be posting regularly again soon. I’ve had enough of TV for a long while, but it did make me think about how I am not too much different from those messy homeowners. But, it is my heart that is often a mess. Thankfully, I know just Who to turn to for a good cleaning.
Sounds like you got what is going around down here in South Florida, too. Hope you are feeling better!!
That sounds pretty bad. I hope you're feeling much better now.
I've only been a cursory visitor to the internet for the last few weeks – my husband had knee replacement surgery and I've been crazy busy ever since. It's been years since I mowed the yard, but I discovered that for me, it's a day long project! I've been doing everything he normally does – which is a lot more than it seems to me usually. I have a whole new appreciation for everything he does around here!
I had realized just the other day that I hadn't seen a post from you.
I must confess to you that I find your blog a bit difficult to read when you write in one solid paragraph. When I enlarge the font, I find it easier. (as I did today.)
I hope you are feeling better.
