|Look how long she is! And those feet!|

My birthday present arrived yesterday afternoon a little behind schedule as her plane from Detroit was delayed for deicing. I heard her calling my name even before she entered the cargo bay on the back of an open truck secure in her airline kennel. “OOOH, WOOH, OHHH!” All of the employees at the Delta Cargo Center began to laugh. “Got a live wire on your hands,” one man said. I think it was the same man who told me what a great dog Summer was going to be when she was delivered silently and calmly to the same place a little over a year ago. Cory, on the other hand, had already clawed her water dish off the kennel door and upon opening that door sprang full force into my arms and climbed up my chest attaching herself to my neck with both of her front legs. Yes, a life wire indeed. She is full of herself and promises to give me a run for my money, but I am in love with her already. Her eyes are still bluish green and she has that sweet puppy smelling breath. She has a mouth on her and can scream loud enough for the neighbors to hear when she is unhappy or just wants to talk. She complains that Sai bosses her around by herding her and pinching her ears, but when I separate them she cries for him. Just a few minutes ago, I was holding him back and she ran across the room and jumped on him full force. She is a real chunk. Older son calls her FB for Fat Butt and played a song for me about Fat Butt Girls that he says is her theme song. Holding her in a submissive pose on her back to teach her that I am boss is like capturing a sumo wrestler. She is almost too heavy for me to pick up and is almost as big as Sai although he is more than twice her age. He thinks we have brought him a mate, but he will be disappointed to discover that she is only going to be the pesky younger sister. She watches every move he makes and delights in stealing his toys. Actually, they are her toys, but he doesn’t know it yet. She has a mind of her own and intends to exercise it. I just fussed at her for chewing on the rung of a stool and she looked at me, mouth still attached to the stool as if to say, “Are you talking to me?” While she did that, he pulled her pink blanket that she arrived with out of her crate. Now, they are fighting over her green frog. What was I thinking to have two puppies in the house at the same time? I hope that it will mean twice as much joy, while knowing that it will mean twice as many puddles and chewed up shoes! Happy Birthday to me!
