At the invitation of a friend, I will be attending the American Christian Fiction Writer’s Annual Meeting in Nashville in August. As a preconference mixer, we were asked to answer the following questions and post them on our blog. I’ll be linking here. http://www.laurietomlinson.com/2016-conference-mixer/ I’m diving in!
Name: Cathy Slusser
Location: Terra Ceia, Florida
What you write/tagline/trademark: Historical Fiction about real women who went through real difficulties and came out on the other end with stronger faith and joy.
Place in the book world: Self published author of two books with the third finished and currently at the publishers. (Ask me to see the proof copy!)
On a scale of hugger to 10-foot-pole, please rate your personal space: I accept hugs, but likely will not initiate one.
Something VERY serious: How do you take your Starbucks? I don’t drink coffee, but if you offer me a bottle of Cheerwine and promise to stay up with me all night (caffeine really messes with me), I will gladly take it!
The unique talking points that will get you going for hours: dogs, travel, the difficulties of raising young adults and teenagers, but what I really love is asking questions and listening to other people’s stories (yes, I am an introvert in an extrovert’s body)
Loved ones at home you’ll be missing: Husband of 35 years, Glen, oldest son, Rob, youngest son and his wife, Tim and Miranda, my service dog, Cory
Conference goals we can pray for? I self published due to impatience and desire for control of my work, but God is showing me that the stories I told deserve a wider audience than I can generate. Pray that I am patient and willing to let go and wait for His timing so that He is glorified. Also, this is the first time I have travelled alone since I began having trouble walking (MS related) so prayers for stamina would also be appreciated.
Anything we can celebrate with you? Third and final book of a trilology is done and in the process of being formatted for publication! Also, I think I have the next subject for more books identified.
One or two ways we can help you build your platform? Give me suggestions for a reasonably priced website designer. Help me decide between an author’s Facebook page and just using my own personal one. Visit and follow to my blog, www.fromaheavenlyland.blogspot.com.
