For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Revelation 7:17 (NIV)
I wish you could hear the sound of the rapids right outside our cabin door. Better than any “nature sounds recording” or white noise you ever heard. We spent our first full day at the cabin outside. We were either walking by, sitting by or in the river or hot tub all day long. My nails are soft, my skin is wrinkled and my brain is mush. If I were any more relaxed, I would be a puddle of river water on the floor. The cabin is in a small group of homes, spaced nicely apart for privacy and protected from the rest of the world by a wrought iron gate. When we drove through that gate, we left our worries and cares behind. Our cell phones do not even work here! After a great night’s sleep, I woke this morning to the sound of coffee making. I don’t drink coffee, but love the smell and the coffee maker in the cabin has an “aroma” feature that sends the smell of coffee brewing wafting around the cabin. The only drawback of this place is that our bedroom is in a loft overlooking the living room and kitchen area so any movement downstairs can be heard upstairs. Since it was almost 9:00, I didn’t have any call to complain! Before breakfast, we walked down a gravel road along the river’s banks. It is so beautiful that I took lots of pictures. After breakfast eaten on the porch overlooking the river, we went out to the chaise lounges on the deck extending over the river and listened to the birds and the river flow. We both fell back asleep in the shade! I do not know how long we slept. I think it was the sound of a huge blue jay that woke us up. It was getting warm by that time. There is a heat wave in the mountains this week. Though our cabin by the river is about fifteen degrees cooler than in town, it is still warm. So, I went swimming in the river. In my pajamas which I was still wearing! Then, I stretched out in the lounge chair for a while before soaking in the hot tub for at least an hour. By that time, husband was complaining about being hungry so we went into town for a superb dinner. I had spinach salad with strawberries and grilled chicken. It is a good thing I went light on the meal because we came back to the cabin and had brownies and ice cream! Ben and Jerry’s Boston Cream Pie Ice Cream! Now, as dusk settles in, I am watching a spider build a web, fireflies blink on and off at my feet as the river continues to run over the rocks. Oh, how grateful I am for this respite and how glad I am to know that though this vacation will soon be over, I am getting a glimpse of how I will one day spend eternity.
That sounds like sheer heaven.
Ok, now I'm really jealous! Swimming in your pjs does indeed sound like heaven!!
