Life is getting in the way of my blogging. While I would enjoy just observing life and writing to you about it, I am in the middle of living it and there is no time to post these days. I apologize if you are tired of only getting Wordless Wednesdays. Believe me, I would love to have a few moments to sit down and communicate with you! Here’s a summary of what’s on my plate these days:
1. Oldest son is home for a while. Starting out with the National Park Service, means accepting seasonal positions. He finished up his summer work and is waiting his next assignment. He is almost positive he has a full year job coming up, but is waiting for the wheels of government which grind slower and slower the closer you get to Washington to approve his work. So, I am doing more cooking and laundry than usual. And I just got used to cooking for two again.
2. Youngest son is waiting for his appointment to take the state paramedic exam. In the meantime, he continues to work at the fire station. Tonight, we cooked dinner for all the members of his shift and took chicken and yellow rice, salad, peas, Cuban bread and cake to the fire station as a treat.
3. My work load is very heavy right now. It is fall which is always a busy time, but some projects I have been working on for a while now are suddenly coming to fruition so it means lots of meetings and Power Points to prepare. It will be very very good news for our community if we can get these things passed. I can’t tell you about them here though because I had to sign a social networking policy not to write about work on my blog.
4. My kiln is broken. It will not heat above 1300 degrees because the top element is not working. I haven’t had time to call and order the parts during the limited hours that the kiln company is open.
5. But, that’s okay because whenever I do have a free moment which is not often, I am dying and felting Christmas presents. I am making some lovely things which I hope to show you soon.
6. My arms and hands are killing me though. I fear I may be getting carpel tunnel which is not going to be good for my lifestyle.
7. It is also horse back riding season. Special rides almost every weekend for the next few weeks. I can’t wait to get back out on the trails.
8. Spanish lessons finished this week. I can’t say that I can speak it well, but I understand more and I can read “Green Eggs and Ham,” “Go Dog Go”, and “Red Fish Two Fish” in Spanish.
9. Husband and I had to attend a fancy smancy wedding. We made the decision not to go out and buy new clothes because we are trying to save money for more important things. Sadly, he was embarrassed when we arrived and he was the only man not wearing a jacket. Sigh. I guess we should have thought it through a little more. There were 14 bridesmaids and dinner at the country club. We were way out of our league.
10. Speaking of those important things, I leave for Guatemala in twenty days. Can’t wait to get my hands on those babies. Our church is collecting diapers and we hope to get 30,000.
11. And another important thing, I am back to teaching Bible Study on Wednesday night and this year, instead of using a book, I am writing all the lessons. Yikes, what was I thinking?
So, I hope you will pardon me for not writing more. Life is interfering with my blogging. All is well. Just trying to keep my focus on what is most important right now.
Glad to hear from you though! I understand about life and blogging and how there are times when those two things are mutually exclusive. You sound busy and pretty happy – and that's what counts. Enjoy your time back in Guatemala! How long will you be there this time?
I think it's a good thing when life interferes with blogging. If you have occasion to write about it from time to time, good, if not, that's good too.
